The Italian Society for Archaeoastronomy will hold its 17th Annual Meeting (SIA Conference) in Rome at the Department of Physics of the University of Rome "La Sapienza".

The conference will, like every year, be an occasion for encounter between scholars of astronomy and human sciences on the relations between the historical and prehistoric populations and the celestial phenomena, or on the role they have played in the culture of these civilizations and they are eventually served for practical purposes.

The SIA Conference will be associated with an International Workshop on the topic:
Ex Oriente: Mithra and the Others. Astronomical contents in the cults of Eastern origin in ancient Italy and Western Mediterranean, which aims to bring to the attention of the scholars the role of astronomical symbolism in some of the most important cults that have spread from the Near East in the Western Mediterranean.
