BEaTriX: a facility for testing the modular elements of ATHENA

The X-ray detector

The parallel X-rays is focused by the Mirror Modules and form an image on the sensor of a directly-illuminated CCD, located at a 12 m distance, at the end of the long arm of BEaTriX. The CCD sensor is 27.6 mm x 27.6 mm with a spatial resolution of 13.5 µm.
The optical quality of the module (PSF and effective area at 4.51 keV) can then be directly diagnosed from the focal spot imaged on the CCD.

The iKon-L SO Andor CCD camera preliminarily mounted on the optical chamber of BEaTriX. The long arm seen from its end where the CCD camera is mounted.
