RX J1856.5-3754 ONS candidate

RX J1856.5-3754 ONS candidate

This is a rather bright X-ray source (3 c s-1 with ROSAT PSPC), firstly discovered in the EINSTEIN slew survey and rediscovered serendipitously in a ROSAT PSPC observation of the R CrA molecular cloud. The spectral fit provides a black body temperature of ~60 eV and a column density of 1.4 1020 cm -2, giving in turn a luminosity of 5 1031 erg s-1 at a distance of 100 pc (the R CrA cloud lies at about 120 pc).
