Abstract

A new class of soft intermediate polars (IPs) has been discovered from
the ROSAT all-sky survey with X-ray spectra similar to those of polars.
We propose SAX observations of two new candidates for soft IPs to
confirm their nature. Increasing the sample of soft IPs is important
- there are only 2 well confirmed such sources known today - to find the
physical parameters which rule the production of the soft X-ray
component in soft IPs and to establish their relationship to polars.
