Current scientific interests:

[*] Transient X-ray sources with particular emphasis on neutron star transients in quiescence (my main work since PhD)
 
[*] Isolated neutron stars / AXPs and SGRs (acting not as a prime driver, mainly with Gianluca Israel)

[*] Accretion phenomena at large and general relativity (low level) 

[*] Wavelet-based source detection algorithm and study of the cosmic X-ray background (Alberto Moretti does the work!)

[*]  Optical design and associated science of new X-ray saltellites (currently XIAO on SVOM, XENIA/EDGE, and responsible for the calibrations of the XRT on Swift) 

[*] Gamma-ray bursts (basically everything, very exciting!)
