Gamma-ray Burst - Magnetar thinkshop (GRBMAG14)

The main motivation of the meeting is to consider future directions and key problems for the study of gamma-ray bursts and magnetars.

In the last few years progresses in these two fields have been terrific and now several points of contact exist.

In this ‘thinkshop’ we aim to bring together these two communities in order to share new ideas and highlight new milestones of understanding for the next 5-10 years.

The thinkshop will be an invitation-only meeting.

The structure of the thinkshop will be based on comprehensive invited reviews in the morning session and extensive guided discussions in the afternoon session, with discussions in between on the ski slopes or SPA.

We selected five broad topics:

  1. - GRB-SN connection

  2. - GRB central engine and magnetar formation

  3. - Magnetar observations and theory

  4. - Massive star progenitors

  5. - Transient Universe
