Renting a car

It is the suggested option and far quicker or take a bus.

We will set up a Google doc to foster carpooling (airport arrival/departure and time of arrival/departure), either with a rented car or by taxi.

Hotel Baita dei Pini has a free parking.

If need a taxi or are happy to share your rented car please fill the carpooling/need a taxi document (either way to Bormio)

A daily bus leaves from Malpensa T1 (1 pm), Orio al Serio (2 pm) and Linate (3 pm) to Bormio. The travel time is 4h40m.

The same is true for the way back, leaving from Bormio in the morning at 8 am (if you plan to stay one day in Milan, Milano Linate is now connected to the centre of the city with a metro).

From Malpensa airport

    • Rent a car (Saronno, Como, Lake, Colico, Sondrio, Tirano, Bormio, 3 hr)

    • Take the Malpensa Express to Milano Centrale (train, 10 €, 50 min), then the Trenitalia train from Milano Centrale to Villa di Tirano (train, 11,50 €, 3h30m) and finally the bus from Villa di Tirano to Bormio (1 hr, at Bus Perego) or book a taxi in advance (through your hotel).

   • If you are a group of 3-4 people you can have a taxi taking you to Bormio for 150-200 € each; if 6-7 people 90-110 € each. 

From Orio al Serio/Bergamo airport

    • Rent a car (Val Camonica, Trescore, Edolo, Passo Aprica, Bormio, 3 hr)

    • Take bus shuttle (Oriobus, Terravisio, ~1 hr) to Milano Centrale. Take the Trenitalia train from Milano Centrale to Villa di Tirano (train, 11 €, 3.5 hr) and finally the bus from Villa di Tirano to Bormio (1 hr, at Bus Perego) or book a taxi in advance (through your hotel).

    • If you are a group of 3-4 people you can have a taxi taking you to Bormio for 130-170 € each; if 6-7 people 75-90 € each. 

From Milano Linate airport

    • Rent a car (Lecco, Colico, Sondrio, Tirano, Bormio, 3 hr)

    • Take bus shuttle APT2 to Milano Centrale or a taxi.Take the Trenitalia train from Milano Centrale to Villa di Tirano (train, 11 €, 3.5hr) and finally the bus from Villa di Tirano to Bormio (1 hr, at Bus Perego) or book a taxi in advance (through your hotel).

    • If you are a group of 3-4 people you can have a taxi taking you to Bormio for 130-170 € each; if 6-7 people 75-90 € each.
