Galaxy formation and evolution are widely thought to be controlled by stellar and AGN feedback, although their coupling to the interstellar/circumstellar medium remains poorly understood. X-ray observations allow us to probe this coupling. I will present some of my thoughts and recent work in this area, highlighting the importance of charge exchange in soft X-ray emission, the distribution of plasma temperature, and the relative roles of stellar and AGN feedback at different scales. But I'd also be happy to discuss other topics, in particular multi-wavelength studies of the Galactic Centre and/or HyLIRGs via strong lensing, if interested. I hope that my talk will help to stimulate some discussion and exchange of ideas.
