Optical thin films for neutron and X-rays

My presentation is mainly about the work I have done in China. The main content of the research is application of multilayer in different equipment, like neutron focusing devices, X-ray telescopes, monochromator in synchrotron radiation. I will focus on the works of neutron focusing devices for compact pulsed hadron sources in Tsinghua University. For the enhancement of the flux, a conical approximation to the ellipsoid structure is used for focusing the neutron beam. The fabrication of this system is similar to the X-ray telescopes. There are three main goals for the coating of this system, keep high reflection, good uniformity and low stress. Finally, the total flux increased by 17 times using this device. At the meantime, I will also introduce some applications for low and high energy X-ray telescopes by utilization of different types of reflective films.
