The VIMOS Public Extragalactic Redshift Survey (VIPERS) has provided us with nearly 90,000 spectra of galaxies at intermediate redshift (0.5 < z < 1.2). For the first time we explore such a distant region of the Universe with a sampling rate similar to the SDSS and 2dFGRS local surveys. I present the results of my master thesis using such a large statistics to obtain insights into the properties of the so called quenching event. Particularly I used synthesis population models to simulate the redshift evolution of the colour-magnitude relation. I test out different star formation histories starting from an unperturbed one and then building several quenched scenarios with different time-scales.
