With emphasis on X-ray observations of the ICM we show there the story of how the ICM (and clusters in general) form and evolve is still not closed question when it comes to the standard cold dark matter models of larger scale structure evolution. We present several case studies that beg for, but not yet have granted Chandra or XMM time. We show how the projects some link better to Athena in some cases and Lynx.
