Short Gamma-ray Bursts (SGRBs) are among the most elusive class of transients. Their faint afterglow and their low event rate make them very difficult to observe from the ground even with the most efficient robotic facilities. Furthermore the theory of SGRB progenitor is far from be cope with observations. I will summarize the discovery of GRB 130603B, in particular the spectroscopic follow-up and the HST-based imaging campaign. Finally, I will present the important role that this event has for not only our understanding of stellar evolution, but also for our capability to detect Gravitationl Waves with the soon to come GW experiment on Earth.
