According to cosmological simulations, the warm-hot gas phase located in the large-scale filamentary structure of the cosmic web at low redshift should constitute the major reservoir of the missing baryons. So far the attempts to detect the WHIM have lead to scarce results due to current instrumentation limitations. I will present evidences for the existence of the WHIM in dense large-scale environments arguing that superclusters are the best places to feasibly detect the WHIM with current instruments.
