Gamma-Ray Bursts are likely associated with a catastrophic energy release in stellar mass objects. Electromagnetic observations give important information on the properties of the central engine. Moreover, gravitational waves emitted from the gamma-ray burst progenitor, would carry a direct probe of its nature. In this context, I give an overview of the multi-messenger study of gamma-ray burst sources that can be carried out by using both electromagnetic and gravitational wave observations. In the electromagnetic domain, I put emphasis on recent observations of high energy tails in the GeV range. In the gravitational wave domain, I discuss current and expected results from ground-based gravitational wave detectors like LIGO and Virgo.
