I will begin with a brief overview on historical perspective and current status of research in Gamma Ray Bursts (GRBs). My research in the past mainly focussed on the optical search for the afterglows of GRBs and involved observations using the Indian telescopes and data analysis. Therefore I shall also introduce you to the current observing facilities available in the country. I would spend some time on the statistical analysis I carried out to address problems viz., Luminosity functions of GRBs and their clustering properties and finally my current research interests.
