A brief review of our current understanding on galaxy formation will be presented. The two main steps in this process are dark matter halo assembling and the setting inside them of the baryonic systems, where star formation takes place. I will highlight our recent results about the dependence of CDM halo properties on environment and our preliminary analysis on whether this dependence is at the basis of the observed changes of disk galaxy properties with large-scale environment.
