In the last part of the 2024 the Rubin Observatory is entered in its commissioning phase. With the optics and the commissioning camera mounted on the Telescope Mounting Assembly the first photons were captured on the 24th of October. This will be the last step before the final integration of the LLSTcam foreeseen in the first months of 2025. Rubin Observatory will take hundreds of images of the Southern Hemisphere sky, every night for ten years, for a survey called the Legacy Survey of Space and Time (LSST). The data from these images will be used by astronomers around the world to make countless discoveries. Exploring the transient optical sky will also greatly impact the INAF community, which participates as an in-kind contributor to the last phases of LSST development. In this talk the status of the project and the INAF contributions will be discussed focusing on the efforts and involvement in the next months.
